Good Luck Katie, in the Racine Ironman 70.3!

I was browsing Facebook a bit today, when I saw the following post on my newsfeed from one of my friends:

a Northwestern University faculty member who I have never met/do not know donated to my fund raiser last night & put me over my fund raising goal by $33. he found out about the fund raiser through a post I put on LinkedIn & felt compelled to donate! I am so damn proud to be a wildcat. :)

This friend of mine is doing a half IronMan this July and using it to help raise money for the Turner Syndrome Society of the US in honor of her sister, who was diagnosed with TSS when she was three.

As someone who aspires to do an Ironman someday, this is inspiring on quite a few different levels. It highlights to importance of family and alumni support (because what is a school’s alumni network, if not an extended family) to any athlete. She discusses it a bit more on her blog. (For those who appreciate recursion, she mentions this very post in her post: hopefully this doesn’t break the internet.)

One month from today is the big race, I hope you all will join me in wishing her the very best!
